More SUV Bashing

Has anyone seen the new commercials sponsored by The detroit Project (www.detroitproject.com).
These folks are wackos. They are claiming that since SUV's burn more fuel that rice burners, that we are supporting terrorism. I'm getting so sick of these idiots acting like the biggest danger to America is SUV's. They are making the outrageous claim that SUV are a danger to national security because of their gas consumption. The site so lame that hey give you an email to automakers to complain about SUV's but they never give you an email to send them an email letting them know how stupid their arguments are. Tell everyone what you think of this madness

Damn small car fanatics

You can go to www.whois.net and find who the administrator is.

It is illegal to get that information for the purpose of unsolicited communication. Otherwise I would post it here for you.

If you feel like letter writing, just send a letter to them thru the postal office. They give their address to send donations. Some of you more creative people here could come up with something. Everything that comes to mind for me is illegal, and would likely put me in jail.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-Jan-03 AT 02:10 PM (EST)]I remember Arianna Huffington from the Clinton impeachment days. She had her head screwed on straight for that, but I think she is a bit off base here. I share her indignation with the linkage of the Drug war to terrorist activity, but I am sure she is on the wrong rightous path here. She needs to get back in her Mini Cooper and go home.

I believe in the free market. If the public wants SUV Monster vehicles, then Detroit, or someone else, will supply that need. If fuel becomes so scarce that they sit and rot, so be it. If some one does not want to buy due to a guilty conscience, then so be it. You can't legislate a guilty conscience, Arianna.

Let's say the market is glutted with SUV type vehicles. The prices will fall until the excess inventory is gone. Automakers will cut production, and may even phase them out when demand becomes so thin that it is not profitable to manufacture them. Leave the market forces to work, Arianna.

The market forces will determine when and if the SUV will flourish or die. No amount of political silliness will make a difference, Arianna.

Now go find some other cause to hang you hat on Arianna, because you won't make a difference on this one. Try protesting behemoth government rather than behemoth vehicles.

The problem here is that the link between drugs and terrorists is totally different from the asserted link between oil consumption and terrorists. Drug dealing is illegal. Oil consumption is not.

Those who accuse SUV owners of supporting terrorists are also automatically admitting to the same, although at a lower rate, unless they always walk or ride bicycles.

Every mode of transportation (short of self-propulsion) is based on oil consumption. Even electricity is generated mostly from oil burning. So if SUV owners support terrorists, then so do mini-car drivers. If one person murders one person he is a murderer. If he kills hundreds of people, he is still a murderer.

Another point: Every SUV owner does not necessarily consume more oil than the mini-micro car driver. It depends on how much gasoline he uses per time. Additionally, all SUV's do not get worse mileage than all cars. I just reviewed the epa estimated fuel economy on 2002 models, and there are lots of cars with under 20 mpg.

This is the same old liberal junk science we have been seeing.

You would think these people would have something to do other than waste their time on silly causes such as these.

On the pricing side of supply vs. demand, SUV's are keeping gas prices lower. Think about it, if everybody drove a little car that on a bad day got 40mpg, the price of gas would go through the roof. Why? Simply because the companies wouldn't be able to keep their profit margins at that low of a consumption rate. I say drive your SUV, I'll drive my gas-hog truck, and we can all enjoy low gas prices.

Something I've heard somewhere
"Kill one, your a murderer"
"kill many, your a conquerer"
"kill'em all, your a god"

Glad we've gotten away from this line of thinking though.

-Surely you're not suggesting this is not a good site, are you?
-Who says they don't? Maybe the servers are impenatrable?
-What would be their agenda or motivation to do so?

Well its up right now.

Maybe the servers are impenatrable?
no, they are penatrable. Anyone one with that thinking cannot have a perfectly secure server.

>-What would be their agenda or motivation to do so?
To shut those up.

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-11-03 AT 08:18 AM (EST)]You're talking about the liberal whiney anti-suv site being attacked and not Ford-trucks right?

You didn't look hard enough. She lists her e-mail on the page http://aria8.vwh.net/ (scroll to the bottom of the page)and invites comment. I think the rest of you know what to do.

Here's a thought. She blames the development of the suv on corporate greed. I think the suv was developed because of whiney, tree-hugging, crunch-granola liberals like HER!!!! Think about it. 20 years ago parents bought station wagons to move thier families around. They were large enough to do the job required. Then changing environmental regulations and increasing insurance costs for cars made trucks more financially attactive. Once again these bleeding hearts don't thing what the ramifications of their actions could be. The liberals CREATED the suv's they hate so much. BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA
