So i posted a few days ago about switching a M5OD from 2wd to 4wd. I picked up an E4OD automatic 4X4 for my truck with complete wiring harness. My truck is a 1992 f150 it came from the factory with a E4OD but someone swapped it to manual, my question is will the E4OD plug in with no problems since my truck came from the factory with one and the computer for it is still there? the truck is a 1992 and the trans came from a 1996, just wondering if they changed the harnesses from 1992 to 1996? thanks guys your help is appriciated!
I know the harness to the TRS (that sensor on the driver's side of the trans) did change. You should get a TRS for the '92, the computer won't be able to read the newer TRS. Other than that it should work, as long as the trans has the right bellhousing to match your engine.

When refitting my transmission on my 94 RV, my helper pulled on the TRS and broke it. The new TRS came with a new plug and instructions on how to fit the new plug to the old harness.
I'm sure Mark will be able to validate or refute these next points better than I, but it was my understanding that between 94 and 95, a diode was moved between the ECM and the solenoid pack. Maybe that only applies to the 460 which wasn't fitted to the F150.
Also, didn't the 96MY F150 change to a new design (unlike the F250/F350), possibly not using the E4OD?
