I know this is in the wrong section, I also posted it in the 99-03 section but I figured ya'll could probably help too since it is pretty much the same.
I'm doing the ball joints on my parent's 2002 Excursion. I got the driver's side done and the passenger side almost apart but the"knuckle?" (that the ball joints are pressed into) won't come off... The top is loose, I can spin the ball joint in place and it moves when I bang on it but the bottom won't budge. Yesterday I spent a couple of hours banging and prying on it but it still won't come off... I've also been soaking it with PB blaster and tried Freeze Off. Any other ideas or tips? Thanks for any help, I appreciate it!
do you have a ball joint press? go rent one and put it on nice and tight like it might break, then smack hard the side of the knuckle where ball joint is in with a 5lb sledge hammer and they usually pop. don't use heat as it can weaken the knuckle
