Need helping on what engine is in my ford vanette?
hello not sure if this is in the correct spot since there is no ford vanette section. I have a 1959 ford vanette with a 4 cyl diesel motor that came in it. it is complete and would like to get running again. but i cant find any info on this motor or even vanettes. any help or a lead in to right direction would help. most had flat 6cyc gas.

They were used in the P series also
Dagenham 3.6L 220 cui 1963-1966 P-3500/4000/5000s.
Dorset 4.0L 242 cui 1967-1970 P-3500/4000/5000s.
Dorset 4.1L 254 cui 1971 P-3500/4000/5000s.
You may want to try on one of the British Fordson tractor web sites those guys will be able to tell you if it is a Dorset or Dagenham as for parts your best bet will be a Ford Industrial Engine parts supplier or they will at least know what direction to point you as will the guys on the Fordson site.

Recently purchased this Ford P-350 Vanette.
Any info or decoding would be greatly appreciated!!
Also, we got the truck started but need a new injector/injection pump. The serial number on the current injection pump is P4665. Any idea on a compatible replacement? I need one for a 4cyl diesel.
Found this on engine head. Engine block has the number S340240. Any info on engine would be greatly appreciated. All I know is Fordson diesel tractor. ☺️

The Engine is a Dagenham 3.6L 220 cui Diesel they were used in the P series from 1963-1966
The original Injection pump is a Simms inline.
Best bet it to have the original rebuilt, most of the industrial/agricultural injection pump re-builders should be able to rebuild it.
Simms/Minimec/Lucas CAV Pumps were used a wide variety of AG and industrial equipment, in North America such Companies such as Fordson, Ford /New Holland , Allis Chalmers, Massey Ferguson, Bolinder/Volvo used Simms in line pumps.
Any re-builder that does Delphi-Lucas-CAV injection pumps should be able to do it.
IIRC the Simms pumps had their own oil supply and it should be drained and changed when the engine oil is changed.

All I know is Fordson diesel tractor.
Production continued in Canada and England as their governments didn't 'clamp down' on FoMoCo like the US Gov't did.
These tractors were man killers, would rear up, then flip over backwards.
G35 = P350 Parcel Delivery (Diesel).
4 = Dagenham 220 cid 4 Cylinder Diesel; 65 net HP @ 2,500 RPM
H = Lorain OH Assembly Plant.

Amazing!
Thanks a bunch! All of that info helps a lot! It was sold to me as a 1959 without a title and I wasn’t sure how to decode the vin.
Any idea what any of the other numbers on the vin plate are?
NumberDummy, any idea how many people join this site just to connect with you?? You’re kind of a legend! 😁

We put it in the truck and it spit diesel like crazy! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 The truck started right up. It’s possible it was air locked or the lines a bit clogged up.
Thank you again!!
