Does anyone out there run these wheels, or frankly any 8" wide wheel with 4.25" backspacing / 0mm offset on a leaf spring truck (99-03)? I am moving from 285/75/16's on my factory 2002 16x7 wheels and wanting to go to 305/70/17's on these HELO 17x8 wheels but I don't want a bunch of rubbing.
Anyone who could speak from experience on the matter would be greatly appreciated!
My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl who saw Ferris pass-out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.
oh yea and he's running 18x9" wheels with 4.50 backspace with 13" wide toyo mt tires.
LOL, before the 18's I had 17x8's with 4.25 bs with 315/70/17 goodyear mt's you should be totally fine with 4.25 bs.
4.50 is the most you can run without any rubbing on the leaf spring front suspension

Haha! That's awesome!
I measured my clearances with my current 285 / 75 / 16's and I have a little over an inch clearance on the leafs on either side. What I discovered was really tight was the inner fender liner clearance on the drivers side cab corner. I have some mud flaps installed and it looks like there might have been some rubbing there in the past. I know that the liner can be pulled back a touch and removing the flaps would give me another half inch or so, but I do like having them flaps.... So I went with a 295/70/17 just to be safe.
Sorry it took so long to post back... The place I ordered the wheels from sent one with the wrong bolt pattern, so I had to wait for the replacement. But, it's finally done! I put on 295/70/17 Nitro Ridge Grapplers. For fit, there is plenty of room on the leaf Springs, but my problem was the fender liners and mud flaps. After doing the zip tie pull back trick on the fenders and trimming the inside of my mud flaps slightly, they fit with no rubbing lock to lock! I'm glad I didn't try to go any bigger without at least a leveling kit. Maybe next time! As for the look...exactly what I wanted. They poke out just slightly past the fenders, but not like most of the trucks I see running around. Just barely. I posted some pictures for those who were following. Cheers!
Thanks for posting the pictures, I am going with the same tire in 285/65/18 size. I like that they have an aggressive looking stance. It is such a new tire its hard to find pictures with these on a truck. Can you give me a review of the tires handling/road noise/rocks etc.
