I like Sync 3 - it is fast. However, the old MFT had a couple of positives I think, that are lost with the new system. One is that the current track is not displayed unless you are on the home screen or the audio screen. The old MFT displayed the track name in the lower corner dedicated to audio.
Somehow, the screen area on Sync 3 also seems smaller than the old MFT. I realize they are both 8" displays...but be it the lower location of the Sync 3 screen, or the fact that there is no true full screen for navi, it seems smaller.
However, voice command is vastly better with Sync 3.
Have you figured out how to display fuel prices? Can't seem to find "travel link" on this new sync 3. Haven't had time to research it as of yet.
Otherwise i I really love the CarPlay capabilities. The native sync stuff I find pretty lacking and crowded. The Sirius screen seems cluttered. I preferred the MFT version.
Overall I will be using CarPlay over the other stuff anyways.

Yes. Go to "apps" and choose Travel Link. Fuel prices are in there, make sure to select diesel as default is regular unleaded. You can also see movies, ski reports, and more usefully...a snapshot of weather radar.
I cannot speak to the truck screen but it seems to be at a greater angle than MY2016. The MFT in our Lincoln has that angle and at times picks up a lot of reflection I never noticed in my friends MY2015 F-350. I also notice in the MKC that fingerprints play a much larger part in obstructing smaller details on the screen in certain light conditions than the F350 mentioned, almost to a point I have thought about putting a sunshade over the screen like the Lowrance GPS and sonar units have for marine use. Maybe the truck is different: I hope so.
My wife's Escape has MFT (2015 model). The voice recognition (except for the phone functions) sucks. Horrible. I had the Sync2 in my truck (no nav) and the voice recognition was fairly good.
The interface for MFT was fairly good the speed and responsiveness was horrible. It would stall and stutter. The layout was ok.
As for Sync3:
I love simplistic simple interfaces and that is Sync3.
It is responsive and the voice recognition is much better.
I don't like that you only can see the signal reception level on the home screen. That should be on the top menu bar.
Climate screens are easy to understand and navigate. Same for the audio screens including MP3's from USB.
The Nav took a little getting use to but now I like it.
The setting screen is full of a bunch of menus - holy crap there is a ton of stuff in there. Ambient light is in there - I kept trying to find the button for it and finally found it in that setup area.
I have been playing with Apps for Sync - mainly Spotify. It could be my phone but the spotify app times out and sometimes won't reconnect after I turn off my truck then turn it back on. Once it connects it is solid but there are some connection problems. It could by Google Nexus 5x phone.
Are there other apps for Android that you guys have found that work?
Finally - I have experimented some with Android Auto and am considering writing a review of that. It is not quite baked in my opinion.

I think the angle is about the same in the truck as it was in the 2016 trucks: nearly vertical.
Climate screens are easy to understand and navigate.
Interestingly, they are exactly the same screens and graphics used on our 2010 Lincoln. Totally different than what MFT used up to 2011.
While I'm incredibly grateful for the hard buttons for seat heating and cooling, it sucks that the only way to turn on the heated steering wheel is via the touch screen from the climate menu. Only upside is that when you remote start and its cold, it stays on (as well as the heated seats) automatically...previously, these would shut off and you would have to turn them back on.
Ill miss my 12'fx4. sync sony/nav dvd. I can display family pictures on screen and it has a jukebox hard drive you can download cd's to. I have 755 tracks in it currently.

Until MFT, you could play DVD videos right on the dash of your Super Duty. Since MFT (2013?) and through current Sync 3, you can no longer do this. Too bad. The Jukebox I thought was a good idea until I realized you had to rip all tracks you wanted to store on to the drive from a CD. With hard drive maps moving to SD storage, the Jukebox feature went away.

What do you guys think?
No contest.......SYNC 3 for the win.
The improved speed of SYNC 3 alone makes it much better than MFT not to mention other features such as CP & AA.

I agree. We still have MFT in our 2014 Lincoln. While I still like the "quadrants" you can easily touch to go directly to that screen, Sync 3 is much better simply because it responds to touch better, responds faster, and hears voice commands much better. Frankly, though...CP and AA are useless. I have no idea why one would prefer to use this interface unless they did not have factory navi...
I use Android Auto exclusively. Spotify and Waze just blow Sirius and the default NAV away for me. It's really no contest. That and Google Assistant is infinitely more powerful than the stock voice prompts. The following will just never be possible with the stock voice:
"Hey Google" (you can just talk to it, no buttons to push)
What's the weather today
Who's favored to win tonights laker game
take me to Staples Stadium
add a stop at "buddys name's" house
text "buddys name" I bet you $50 the lakers win tonight, on my way to pick you up
I can do that in a few seconds and never have to touch a button or the screen. Its just so much easier and more powerful.
So my vote is Sync3...because it gives you access to Android Auto, ha.
