Absent any other info/codes I'd drain the oil and replace with 12 quarts of 5W40, pull and clean the EGR valve, check the alternator and FICM voltage, and check the exhaust for signs of oil.

Yes, the maintenance book says 15 quarts of oil but the way the dipstick sits in the oil pan it's impossible to really tell how far over full you are once you get to that point. So put in 12 quarts, and check the dipstick adding in half quart intervals to find "full" for your truck. A common leak is the rear of the oil pan, and it's because simply dumping in 15 quarts because the book says so isn't always right. Also you can't tell if you're growing oil of the dipstick is already maxed out, so running a "low" 12 quarts for 1k miles won't hurt anything, to be able to actually see if the level rises.
