Unhappy Auto-Step Dent

Just found this little gem on my 2 day old truck. Pretty sure it was there from the day i bought it since it appears it could have only gotten there with the step deployed.

Im calling the dealership tomorrow. Wish me luck

PS found the part... 267 bucks. Hope they take care of this... don't really feel like dishing out more money on this brand new truck.

Can you take a pic zoomed out?

I assume this is on the power step? If so, I would bet my last dollar that this happened either on the car carrier or at the dealership on the hoist post when they PDI it. Car carrier is most likely as they are a tight fit for a big truck.

Bummer. That's why I go over them with a fine toothed comb. It also helps to bring someone else with you, my brother and I team up because I'll catch stuff he misses and vise versa. I hope they take care of it for you.

Two things:

1) that sucks! Glad you have proof from the dealership. I'll add that to my checklist for delivery.

2) the clearance under these trucks with the boards up is insane. Great looking truck!

You are going to have to "stretch" your roof a bit....

Nice looking truck!

Well the dealership took good care of me, went up there and they swapped it out with another platinum that was on the lot. The step swap took about 10 minutes max (4 allen headed bolts per step.)

And here she is in her natural habitat, the fuel pump...With no natural predators it appears she will be able to drink her fill.

Nice truck! Black always looks the best...as long as you're willing to keep it immaculately clean! I'm not zealous enough with the washing and waxing so I personally avoid owning black vehicles, but I've got respect for those who are willing to put in the time/effort/money to do so.

Otherwise, that's great that you had photographic proof of the damage prior to you taking possession of the truck -- without it, the dealer, courier and/or Ford would have all tried to say "it wasn't me." Let this be a lesson to all of us to really do a full visual inspection of our vehicles in daylight before we drive them off the lot.

you are absolutely right. I really lucked out having the picture although the dealer claimed they would have taken care of me. When I initially picked up the truck we didn't wrap up until after 9pm. With a 2 and a half hour drive ahead of me and poor lighting I didn't do as thorough of an inspection as I typically would have.

Im glad it's over. Now to see if these FX4 stickers will come off easily. 😁

Your experience made me get the walk around done before the paperwork, so I had a little more leeever-age just in case. Glad they got er dialed in!

Should have had the dealer remove them. They're good at it.

I'm glad they fixed it for you. I was in a similar situation where I had a 300 mile drive back. I noticed later the front valance was all scratched up on one side. I didn't bother with the dealer but bought the part and replaced it.

I should have taken pics before but didn't. It's important to look over the truck before signing the paperwork.

Just noticed my truck steps have the same exact ding as your did. I've had the truck about a month now and never noticed till yesterday. I'm sure it was there since picking it up.

Oh no

I priced them when I first noticed. They run about 250 for the step piece only.
