No Throttle Response in Gears After Injector Install
I just completed installing rebuilt injectors in #2 and #4. for the 2nd time. The first set had failures with those two. After assembly, the engine runs rough which is understandable considering the air introduced. I can run the RPMs up while in neutral or park, however; there is almost no throttle response in drive or reverse. It will barely move and only slightly raises the RPMs. I am unable to drive it to get the air out until this particular issue is solved.
Prior to the tear down for #2 and #4, the throttle response was fine.
Current Codes:
P0272 - I am hoping this would go away once the air is gone.
Software:
AE w/ Ford Bundle (New to me)
Buzz test is fine
Power balance looks great
FICM logic and power are good

DIY w/ limited electrical knowledge

ICP
IPR
FICM w/ Atlas 40 from FICMreapir.com

All associated gaskets and orings replaced with the above
All OEM where available, except injector rebuild service
The throttle response came back last night when I started it up again. I do not know why or how. I was able to drive 10 miles. I had response at all throttle positions.
I still have the P0272 issue, but I have started a new thread on that subject.
I will bite,, and by rebuilt injectors,, you mean from an online retailer?? Either go ford on the injectors,, or just leave them alone. IMHO,, all those online injectors have about an 80% success rate,,, meaning 7 out of 8 might be good. But either way,, the online ones are ALL JUNK!!!
I sent my injectors to the company for the service below:
completely disassemble the injectors including the spool valve
clean everything in an ultrasonic cleaner for 6+ hours to remove carbon buildup
recondition nozzles
replace all of the o rings
install new springs
replace check ball
replace high pressure oil rail O ring
install new copper washers
newly honed spool valve housings and new oversized spool valves are installed in every injector no more stiction problems
I know it is not a reman OEM, but the total cost was $750 for all eight. They have been extremely prompt when sending replacements, even before sending the failures back. I have mixed feelings about what I would have done after the knowing about the failures. At the time, I did not have any injector issues, I was only having them reconditioned while my heads where off. I have not quite caulked this up to a bad decision just yet.
