rebuilt vs. new injectors
If I had to do it over again I would spend the extra money on the new Alliants and be done with it.
mine sounds like it has noisy lifters Tick tick tick, is that injectors? did you find out where the air was coming from? like it says it has 178000 on it and I dont know if I need to just run the valves or if the injectors are making the noise but I do know that it is loud
Injs.- I've had bad luck with both new and used, and I've had good luck with both.
I get my injectors from a company called "Diesel injection and turbo systems" out of forest park, GA. I used to get 'em from Nalley motor trucks.
The reason I swapped- Nalley-$547.86 apiece w/$250 core charge. D.I.T.S.-$389.95 apiece w/$200 core charge.
The thing about these injectors is that they are all the same. You'll find the same injs. in a PS, DT&VT series engine(all of 'em-365,466,570....)cat 3116,3126,c-7,c-9. The only difference is the size of the orifice holes in the inj. So if ya wanna build a diesel drag truck(f-250/350) ya install injs. from a dt-570.
The thing I don't like about these injs. is that you just about can only afford to replace the one that is bad. I don't like that. I like to have a matched set of injs. in my engines(all installed at the same time). That's the way ya did the older style diesels and I like to do it now but, after the first time(a cost of $3287.16/$1787.16 after core return) I learned to just replace them one at a time. The only time I haven't followed the one a time rule(other then the first time)is when I had a piston burn a hole through. I went ahead and inframed the engine and figured I might as well go ahead and install new injs.
Just my thoughts, GL
