When it gets really cold, it'll drop into the upper 20s for a couple hours, but that's pretty rare. I bought the truck from a guy in eastern Washington state-I don't know how cold it gets there-but he obviously wasn't using it!

What?? All that work and no paint!! You were so close. Haha just busting your chops. Good work. Should have oil pressure for days with that high volume pump.

Well, I didn't finish today, but I got a lot done:
  • Hooked-up the headers
  • Installed the starter
  • Tightened-up the motor mounts
  • Hooked-up the oil pressure line
  • Hooked-up the vacuum lines
  • Discovered that my harmonic balancer was no longer in harmony
  • Ran down a replacement for the harmonic balancer. Should be here Tuesday
  • Had lunch
  • Hooked-up temperature sender
  • Installed distributor cap, plugs and wires
  • Cleaned and installed the carburetor
  • Installed my fancy new chrome oil cap
  • Cleaned up the pcv valve
  • Installed a new snout on the air cleaner base plate. Installed pcv hoses
  • Hooked-up electricals
  • Posed for picture, contemplated new thread on FTE
  • Installed bracket and alternator
  • Installed bracket and power steering pump
  • Installed bracket and air conditioning pump
  • Cleaned-up a bit

Parts and connectors remaining:
  • Radiator
  • Radiator hoses and clamps
  • 6 bolts for hood
  • 4 bolts for fan
  • 4 bolts for radiator
  • 4 screws for shroud

No leftover parts nor pieces, but I am short one matching nut for the power steering pump. I think I used it on the new oil pickup, because I liked it better. The one from the oil pickup is on the power steering pump-no parts left over!

Headers hooked up

Starter hooked up

Awwww

The nut in the engine compartment

If only I had more balance in my life...

Got my new harmonic balancer installed
Got the pulley and belts on
Removed the mechanical oil pressure sender
Reinstalled both the electrical and mechanical senders on a tee
Installed the fan and radiator
Hooked up the batteries
Installed the hoses and filled the radiator
Added some oil
Checked everything over and fired it up!

Fired right up, and oil pressure reads about 70 lbs

No more light. Tomorrow, I look at:
Exhaust leak
Possible ATF leak
Secondary battery relay not kicking

70 psi Good pressure, might be time to move down to lighter weight oil you will have to see when she is heated up and the oil thins out.

Well, the second battery relay turned out to be a blown fuse.
Cleaned-up the transmission lines-don't see a leak, but will keep an eye on it
Added ATF (Dexron 3/Mercon)
Put the hood back on
Drove it around
Adjusted the idle speed
Washed it

tee fitting to run both gauges

The highest this gauge has ever read

20 psi hot idle

Saturday night bath

looks great, I had that clear plastic oil pressure tubing and it blew apart and oil went all over the fenin place, change it to copper or you may be sorry.

I second that one. But no need to go to copper use air brake tubing used for air brakes it is more durable than copper, it comes in 1/4" OD and every fitting you would ever need or think of is available for it..

20 psi hot at idle is perfect. Great job, and the high volume pump is a good addition to any 335 series engine it should give you many more miles of service.
