I do apologize if this has already been asked, I did a decent amount of research prior and couldn't find my specific year or range. So if anybody can decode this for me properly and/ or redirect me to a TRUE WORKING decided I would greatly appreciate that.
I tried it and it worked. There's only so much info in the VIN. Year, model, engine type, cab/bed type IIRC, country of manufacture. Has nothing to do with record-keeping.
There's only so much information the VIN gives you...
1: USA
FT: Ford Truck (Completed Vehicle)
D: (GVWR) 5,001-6,000 lbs
F: (Model) F-series pick-up, regular cab
15: (Submodel) 150 series Styleside & Econoline
Y: Engine Type (??? you said I6 but I couldn't find this in the tables)
7: Check Digit (no meaning)
F: Model Year (1985)
N: Factory (Norfolk, Virginia)
A85998: Production number

I appreciate all of your help and info y'all. And I appreciate your time and patience. This has definitely been a push in the right direction. I got this F150 2 weeks ago for $780 pretty much, has a rebuilt T170FT and pretty much all new parts in and out. 6,000 miles on rebuild, 230,000 on body, owner before me over carbureted it by 200 CFM with a 625 Street Demon 4BBL and put a not so good offenhauser DP Intake on it. Been somewhat of a nightmare just to get her tuned to 17 inches of volume.
I also have what seems to be 2 x sets of rear leaf springs. Seems like it's one of those helper sets or stabilizer sets, are their pros or cons to having this setup?

Id love to trade it and go back to factory.
Why not put a 390 v4 carb on it or even a 350 v2 with an adaptor?

Can you post up pictures of the springs? Like to see just what you are talking about.
