ok, I am looking for a good post or write up detailing the wires to use and perhaps a way to route them? I have the LED that I want to use but need to just sort out which terminal to hook the LED to and what size wire to be using, also perhaps what size fuse to use?
If I was doing it (and I plan to) I would take it off the large wire on the out side of the GPR, that way you'll know when they're on and if the GPR fails you'll know that too. LED's use very little electricity and the light should have power consumption listed. I'm thinking 14 Ga wire and a small fuse should suffice.
You will hook it to the load (glow plug side) of the relay. This will be one of the bigger posts with no voltage on it when the truck is off. As for wire, #14 or even #16 would be more than sufficient for the current draw you should see. As for the fuse, assuming it is just a "regular" LED then a 3 or 5 amp fuse will be fine, this is still under the current rating of the two wire sizes listed above.
It's your truck and your final say, but I personally like the one mounted on my bumper, it's low enough to put light infront of me, and not blind other drivers at night, but still able to get the light out far enough to allow for better reaction times if evasive action is required
I'm thinking that this one got posted on the wrong thread for some reason...
