Opinions needed

Thanks for looking. The wife and I are looking for a new fifth wheel camper and would like a toy hauler. Most are 3 axles and 40 feet long. Very few are under 15,500 gvw loaded. We never carry water and always dump waste at the campground. We don't haul atv's or golf carts, mostly antiques. My question is ; I currently have a 2015 f-250 ,6.7 and I am concerned about hauling overweight. The truck only has 35,000 on it and I really don't want to trade it in. Years ago ,not knowing any better I had a 41 ft toy-hauler that was 21 plus pds. and my 6.0 250 hauled it fine with airbags. It was a load ,but I drive sensible and never had any issues. We sold the toys and then the camper. The wife and I deal in antiques these days and need the space to do shows and to haul stuff we buy. What is everyone's opinion about this. Bigger truck, smaller toy-hauler, just put airbags on it and go? All opinions are appreciated.

While I'm not advocating exceeding the ratings, I'd like to point out that, compared to my 2004 F350 DRW, my 2015 F350 SRW has a higher tow rating, more power, bigger/better brakes, more robust transmission, better exhaust brake & a 'smarter' brake controller.

That said, I live in a sue happy state. I'd either look at a smaller trailer or a bigger truck.

I would pay most attention to the pin weight if you have a SRW.

The max 5er trailer weight for your F250 (same as mine) is 15,700lbs.
The engine can pull it and air bags will help support it but you are right at the limit. I understand that you drive sensible but there are a whole bunch of crazies that tend to cause us sensible folk some issues.
That said I have read about a bunch of happy campers that are well over the "legal" limit and still enjoy the ride.

I agree on the pin weight being the biggest problem. You could be over on your rear axle quite easily with a toy hauler ... especially with not much in the back. The truck will definately pull it just fine if the pin weight is in line.
Don't tell anyone but I pull 25,000 lb with my SRW 350 every couple of weeks and it does just fine. That trailer is only about 3 -4,000 lb on the pin though and has really big brakes.
YMMV
