I'm hoping this thread brings forth A LOT of opinions and experiences with ignition wire sets. Mine are way over due for replacement and now that winter is not far off, I'm looking to replace them with a "mid-grade" set.
Franklin2 set me straight on the 8 MM size so that's all good. I'm not a cheapskate, but at the same time, I don't want to spend beyond what is necessary to get the current where it needs to be, efficiently. Sexy colors and fancy insulation printing are well....meaningless if the wires don't perform .
Thanks All for the input !
Been running this setup for about a year with no problems.
HAHA You did anyway
Mine is a 302...shouldn't be any different than the 351. I don't use the coil wire because of my HEI. The sleeves are a good idea also.
So, after all of the usual and un-usual searching, i think i found a wire set that fits the budget as well as my desire to have O.E. service parts (aside the HEI, i know ).
Motorcraft WR3946C
Alternate/OEM Part Number(s): E8PE12259FA, E8PZ12259F
From Rock Auto @ $28.88 (includes shipping).
Any thoughts ?
I had bought a set of Ford Racing wires...9mm and blue in color. Probably a little over kill but I have a aftermarket coil to go with my Summit Racing distributor. Wires were a little pricey but had to pay for the Ford Racing writing on the wires haha.
I have Motorcraft's from Rock Auto on my 84. The owners manual will tell you, to use Genuine parts, or you might void the warranty....
Heya Maytag, long time no see.....warranty.. too funny. I ordered the Motorcraft 8mm set from Rock Auto along with some Dorman seperators that fit to the valve cover bolt pins. They were supposed to be here Saturday but didn't make it. Hoping for Monday.
