Ok...so my check engine light comes on tonight. As i'm driving i shift into neutral, shut it off...turn it back on. Light stays off. Ten miles later it comes back on. Do the same thing. WHen i get home tonight i pulled the codes with KOEO and come up with a 332, 334, and 542. According to http://fordfuelinjection.com/index.htm
the 332 doesn't occur during KOEO but anyhow...what do you think the problem could be. Plus with the 542 my fuel pump is working fine...so whats up with that?
the 332 code probably showed up during KOEO when it read out the continuous memory which logs codes during running condition. I'd clean the EGR passages & valve and check the position sensor. The 542 you may want to contact Steve83, he's pretty good with that stuff.
cleared out the codes and drove around for a while. the only one that reset was 332. Steve are you around,,,i'm guessing you have an idea what it might be. Should i start off with the egr valve, or the sensor?
What year is your truck? Did you look at my code list? Most people find it easier to understand.
The 3## codes sound like you have a vacuum leak at the coffee can or the EVP is bad. If you have a multimeter & a Haynes manual, you can test the EVP. A simple hose to your ear will let you find a vacuum leak easily. Those are the codes that turned on the CEL.
542 on our trucks actually means the FP relay is going bad, since the EEC doesn't actually monitor the inertia switch output. Check the Haynes wiring diagram to see what I mean. If your truck is '92-96, swap it with the horn relay and see if it clears up.
If I don't reply again, e-mail me the link to this thread - I'm working a new job, so I don't have as much time as I used to, and I'm having to limit my activity on the boards.
couple questions steve....autozone lists an egr position sensor and a egr pressure sensor. Which is it that you were refering to....or neither? And by the way....i was going to email you but you have your email turned off.....
I didn't turn my e-mail off - one of the administrators or moderators must have done it.
Your truck has an Exhaust Valve Position sensor (EVP). Early MAF engines use a Pressure Feedback Exhaust sensor (PFE) and later ones use a Dual PFE (DPFE).
You can e-mail me from any other Ford truck or Bronco BBS. I'm Steve83 on all of them. Can you find out why my e-mail has been disabled here? Last time I e-mailed Ken, he didn't reply.
Who tested the EVP? Do you have a Haynes manual and a multimeter? It shows how to diagnose the EGR system, and the MityVac manual (available from http://www.broncodata.com/) has more good info & diagnostics.
I'd wait until I knew what the problem is before taking anything apart. You might do more harm than good by pulling the EGR off.
