I wouldn't pay any more then $1,500 $2k tops depending how the frame looked, body shape and running condition, as for the sound system, removing the radio and not having something in its place, even if it is a stock radio will hurt its value, if things are broken that hurts the value...I too would be kicking the tires, just not sure if you would like the direction they would be headed if I was doing so…then I would just assume you are one crazy individual…sorry that truck does not look like it's a $4k truck, it's a gasser from the looks of the add, where are the interior shots? The sound system? What is in it?
sorry if it sounds like I'm busting your chops but I'm going to go with my gut here and call it as I am seeing it as of right now (time and date of post) and say this sounds like either a scam or your trying to be a schister of some kind and I don't like scammers very well…

Its an IDI 7.3L diesel. He's not a scammer just a college kid learning the hard way..
I put 0 stock in the radio, and agree with a few others that it ought to be removed and replaced with a stock unit, and sold separately. It's a Montana truck, likely rust free. If it weren't for the body damage and unresolved engine issues it may be a great truck. It was in great shape when he bought it a few short months ago. He paid a premium for it, which might have worked out if he held onto it, but for buying/selling regularly a guy will lose a lot of money doing that.

i understand, just stating how I looked at the ad when I read it
well the thing is,he's been paying a lot just in labor.as most of us know,if your going to own an old truck, they just wont be worthwhile to own financially if you don't do 99.9% of the work yourself.
the win isn't so much what he'll get back from the truck,so much as getting out from under it and simply stopping throwing more good money after bad.we've all (least most of us anyway.i know i did) done the same when we were young.so long as we learn and progress, the lost $ goes towards self education, through the school of hard knocks.

ignition cylinder? you mean the part the key goes into so you can start the truck?
that's like a $30 part at max
if mechanically sound I personally would be willing to pay upwards of $2500 for her based on the tires and the diesel
but hate to keep beating on you, but that damage is killer.
also, your write-up just screams "SCAM!" to me. Pull the radio and put a $100 unit in there. Fix the switch. Simple ad stating that it runs good, no rust. And remove that picture with all the wheels removed
I'd say you could get $2,500 here in central Florida, if it runs and drives. I dont see any of the valve problems listed in the ad anymore that were referenced in earlier posts.
But i hope you find the right buyer! That's all it takes if you're willing to be patient, within reason.
Um, it was a joke, just poking at how, er, well the ad was written (thus the quotes around "gas"). It's pretty widely known that all the diesels (both bed sizes) had two fuel tanks.
