My wife's 2011 explorer has dual climate control, and we've been having a problem with it where if you switch it to heat, it blows heat out of the passenger side vents and cold air out of the driver's side vents.
I found that even if you just turn the AC off with the climate controls, it will blow outside air through the passenger vents and cold air-conditioned air through the driver's side vents.
What is the culprit here? I replaced the center blend door motor (the one that is behind the glove box door) last year because the original one broke and was making a clicking sound when you shut the car off. I heard there are other blend doors in the system, would one of these others be causing this issue?

My2017 F-350 is doing the same thing!!! Did you find out what the issue was!?!?
We sold that Explorer to my wife's sister earlier this year...FIL has a shop and had a guy there do some work on me, he told me it was one of the other blend door actuators that was broken or bad, apparently. One of the ones that's hard to get to, of course.

I got ya, yea that’s what I’m hearing mine is too. I’m surprised there isn’t more about it online. I’m hearing that it’s a common issue
Yeah I'm not sure I'm a huge fan of dual climate control for that reason. Wife got a 2017 Explorer with the same setup so I'm hoping it will hold up. Her old one had well over 100K on it when it started acting up so it should be good for awhile.
Hi everyone. I seem to be having the same problem. I am only getting cold air out of the passenger side on my 2017 Super Duty. I changed two Blend Door Actuators. One is behind the stereo and controls which vent air comes out of. The other one is behind the glove box and functions only when I adjust the drivers side temperature. Does anyone know if there is a third actuator that controls the passenger side? If there is could you please let me know where it is. Thanks
