recenty ive been noticing something odd with my truck. Blue smoke seems to be coming out of my exhaust at idle and when I punch it while driving. Oil pressure is fine when in park and at first while in gear but will drop down to around 25-35psi over time. Just had it backfire as I was driving, this was the first time that this has happened. I've been looking online and sounds like it could be numerous things. What would be the first thing I should look into?
Compression check.... first thing. have you been using oil? could be worn valve guides????
no it hasn't been using oil. I just gave it an oil change a few days ago. I ran seafoam spray through the carb and started noticing these issues shortly after using it.
I would suggest that you buy a gallon of Marvel Mystery Oil and follow directions for a few tankfuls of gasoline as an additive. You may have a sticky valve problem. If it doesn't work, go on to more expensive measures.

In that case I would put some of your MMo or ATF down the carb like you did the Seafoam the other day. 2X John on the sticky valves. As the air/fuel, and this case Seafoam, goes past an open intake valve it hits the exposed part of the intake valve's stem. The Seafoam washed the little bit of oil off the stem that it had. The MMO or ATF might also help the rings if they are sticking also. Which might be where your blue smoke is coming from.
