I have a 89 Aerostar 3.0. When I got it the wipers would move up and down about half way up the windshield by hand. When driving down the road on a windy day they move up about half way as well and sometimes do one full wipe. Otherwise they work fine all the time. I have read some things on here but not fully understood them. Do I need to take that front cover off right below the windshield or no? If so do I need special replacement tabs to put it back on? Thanks!

No, you don't have to buy new clips. I use some spring nuts and screws. They work great. I can take the cover off to clean inside. The clips cost 10$ for a pack. The screws and nuts 3$.
