Door Cracks

All 3 slicks that we currentley own as well as the two others I have had in the past all have cracks or developing cracks in the door - all in the same place.

Anyone else have these? Does anyone know what causes them?

My 66 had them on the drivers side door. I welded them up during rebuild.

It appears to be by the latch from the pics but is somewhat hard to tell. I have no cracks on both of my trucks and do not recall seeing cracks on any doors. All of this in Canada if that makes any difference.

They are due to flexion of the door in the area which is weak due to the placement of the holes for the window fuzzies. Mine had to be welded as well.

Ah, that makes perfect sense.

Did you weld just the cracks or weld the holes shut as well?

....don't weld the holes, you need them for the window wiskers to snap into. Also need to be careful when pushing in the new ones, not to stress the door metal here. Welding the cracks should help to reinforce the sheet metal and strengthen it.
