Replacing a ruptured water jacket when I removed it from engine block realize there was thick muddy Sledge in motor. Just bought the motor three years ago has less than 10000 miles on it from ATK. How could the motor get gunked up that fast
I run castrol gtx 10w 30 which I no is correct and pcv valve is what Napa and O'Riley s calls for any other ideas fellas. Like I said new motor freeze plug gave out. Never had this happen to me on any other vehicle. I have a 302 hot rod never happened to and had a 71 390 work horse. I'm so confused maybe just ****y from factory

Let me get this right. The sludge is inside the crankcase? Or is it in the cooling system?

Its inside the water jacket discovered it when I removed the freeze plug on the passenger side under the motor mount. It was thick and brown like watery mud. Last weekend I changed the thermostat and flushed system till water came clean. Kinda confused
Sounds like it had been filled with stop leak at some point. If you flushed it all out and refilled the system and have no leaks then you should be all set. Bars Leak sounds just like what you described.

I didnt say it but have never put anything but water and antifreeze in cooling system. Brand new motor pulleys pumps hoses radiator everything. That why I'm wondering what else it could be
Alot of engine builders use "seal cubes" in New/rebuilt engines. Its a disc bigger then a quarter and about 1/4" thick. Its used to seal minor leaks by being attracted to air. Flush the block, radiator, and heater core. Change the freeze plug. You'll be fine.
Subaru had an issue with head gaskets. The recall was to bring the car in for a "coolant conditioning". The pretty much just put something like this in.
Going to do a complete flush of everything and see how it goes. For about a month or so truck never got warm due to stuck thermostat just replaced last weekend and was running at operating temp and two drives later is when the plug went out. Is it possible a bad radiator cap could have over pressurized the system. Put a new brass plug in today and it was a pain.Never replaced a freeze plug before and found out after that you should put some kind of sealer around it.
So I'm pretty positive the problem is the whole pcv system. Pcv valve is bad, breather filter is also no good never realized what that was so didn't replace it when I put the new motor in. Gunna change it all tomorrow and do a total flush I will see how it goes. Only if they would raise the smog year like they said I could take all this B's off. Good old liberal California
