Just dropped coin on a HPOP replacement on my 2006 F-350. Coming home to Texas from CO pulling my 5th wheel. Everything seemed fine until we finished lunch and tried starting in Wichita Falls. Crank, no start. FICM and sync were good. Not producing pressure. STC fitting not leaking.
My truck just surpassed 153,000 miles.
Wondering what is the typical life of HPOP on these 6.0's...
The late builds rarely have the HPOP fail, so you are among the few. I do hope they replaced the STC whilst they had things torn apart that far for a $50 kit.
It's not unheard of for late builds to have the HPOP replaced as part of an incorrect diagnosis.
I interrogated the shop owner...he was very knowledgeable on the 6.0's. He said they checked the STC and piping for leak to verify it was indeed the HPOP (after eliminating other possibilities). I could only verify I was not building pressure when cranking.
I was surprised it would fail so suddenly, but in thinking back on pulling up Raton Pass, I thought she was ******* on me some.
The replacement pump comes with the updated fitting installed. Anything is possible,, but I've yet to fix an issue by replacing the pump in a late model. As of now,, it's ALWAYS been something else. But hey,,who knows
ICP > 500 psi; IPR% ~ 45%...but SGII doesn't register everything immediately so I'm not sure what is "lagging", ICP or FICM volts. All subsequent starts are normal.
I'll perform another start using SGII and record it.
Don't think so...I talked with mechanic who did work. No other issues noted, IPR screen intact, compliments on how well the truck maintained .
Extended crank/start only on first cold start attempt. All others normal start (i.e. I start it with extended crank, shut down and restart). Warm starts not an issue.
Just started after 3 day sit in Texas...after watching video I see that IPR% jumps to 85% after cranking, with ICP sitting low. ICP on SGII doesn't jump up >500 psi until after it has started.
It needs 500+ to start... why it's slow to fire. You sir... have a leak and need to air test the system to find it. Most likely dummy plugs. If it was the STC fitting. It wouldn't fire at all.
Well...mechanic said they leak tested at the IPR with air before clearing her.
I do have two bad batteries (just confirmed) that I'll replace tomorrow. Both Motorcraft BXT-65-750's replaced back in Jan 2014 (so looks like I should get two free batteries).
