I think this repair looks fine and makes perfect sense. I would never have put thousands of dollars into any older RV, unless it is something truly unique or collectible. So nice job!

Is the skin made of fiberglass? I've heard of gel coat but have no clue what that is.

Wikipedia
Gelcoat or "'Gel Coat'" is a material used to provide a high-quality finish on the visible surface of a fibre-reinforced composite.

Just been watching your repair from the sideline, Bud. The repair looks good enough to me.

With that you could screw/glue a piece of aluminum, say 1/8" thick, rattle can painted to match over the patch and make up a matching piece for the other end of the slide opening. Or run it the entire length of the slide.

Regardless, your repair looks and works well and easy on the wallet

No, I don't think that would only make it worse looking and not contribute to the fix. No way any rattle can color will match the RV.... the Dycor and EternaBond is close enough for me.

The only thing I'm thinking of now is to purchase a different pinbox. Mine is a standard solid Lippert so I've been looking at getting a MorRyde with the rubber shock mount built into it. I'm thinking it will reduce the shock of start/stop and bounce to lessen the chances of more cracking.

Bought a 2 year old MorRyde and got it all in today. Now to take it out on the road and see how it does and to make sure that the crack don't come back!!! Maybe tomorrow? IF it don't rain.

I bet it does just fine.

Be sure to re-torque that pin box after your test drive.
