V10 coolant gauge

My 2000 Excursion coolant temp gauge hasn't worked since it came back from a shop for a CHT sensor replacement. The gauge reads cold and a jumper in the coolant sensor plug reads full hot. Voltage to the plug is a little over 11. Is this correct voltage?

I have a 00 V10 X, it belonged to my brother-in-law who passed away about 3 years ago. My sister gave the truck to my son who is turning 16 this month and we went and got it and drove it from Illinois to Los Angeles. It only has 154,000 miles on it and it runs and drives perfect but the temp gauge never moves off cold. When I brought it to a smog shop they hooked a scanner up and it showed an Ox2 and a HTR error. The tech said this is most likely from it having a dead battery but I had just driven it 2700 miles. It did need a new battery and was completely dead when I went to move it. There is some evidence that the sensor in the intake manifold was changed. I read something this morning about resetting the computer. Is that a good idea. I was thinking that the computer is not taking the Ox2 and HTR readings because it does not know that the truck is up to operating temperature. Is there more than one sensor? There are no check engine lights. The truck runs flawless and gets about 11.7 mpg on the open road. It is a 4X4 and has a straight axel and leaf springs in the front. It is an XLT. I only spent $650.00 on fuel to get it here. Any help would be really great. My son is interested in helping me work on it and he would like it to work out to keep the truck.

The folks that can answer this type of question don't usually frequent the "New Member Introductions" forum, especially in a four-year-old thread. You should post in "1999 to 2016 Super Duty" or "Excursion - King of SUVs" to get some answers flowing.
