Quick ? . What in the world are the plastic plugs in the floor for? I've always wondered this since I had my 65'. I'm doing my floor pan now and this is a ? I need answers to. Can't be for drainage. WTF would there be a plug in it?
It is common to any vehicle(look in the floor/trunk of a new car). I asked on another website to see if anyone had any real reasons. Only thing was that it likely wasn't just for no reason. Either for manufacturing or for draining water if need be.
In new OEM Automotive practices the holes would be used to allow e coat or Electrophoretic Paint to escape the body after dipping and before baking. This is the corrosion coating applied to new vehicles before body color is applied. Since e coat wasn't used on OEM bodies until the mid 70's, AFAIK, I can only assume they were locating holes for a body jig during welding. Or someone thought it would be helpful as water escape hole in the case it got flooded. Kind of like the holes in the cab corners.
