F250 axle pivot bracket

I just recently picked up a 95 f250 4x4 super cab with a 7.5/e40d with 160k mi. Started to freshening up the front end, new steering brakes etc. and found the R axle pivot bracket broken. I pulled it out and on further inspection it had a parts label on it, so it has been replaced before. My question is, how common is this breakage and what can be done to prevent it? I'm guessing it's from running over curbs trying to make u-turns.
Thanks.

It's not too common but the brackets typically break before the cross-member tears so it does happen. On an F250 the leafs get forced in and out as well as twisted as the suspension cycles. Sometimes the bracket cracks from fatigue. Running over curbs has pretty much nothing to do with it. Anything that cycles the suspension a lot will bind things up and put a lot of force on everything.

You can slap a new bracket on and it'll probably be good for another decade or three or you can figure out how to build a beefier bracket with a bigger footprint. When you put it all back together you'd be wise not to use poly bushings.
