Clarification on differential fluid for 2006 Mountaineer please

Hey guys,

Can someone please clarify for me the specific fluid type for the front and rear differential on a 2006 Mountaineer Premier 4.6L?
I have read now multiple times people saying different types....75w90 to 75w120 to 80w90. Does the front take a different type then the back?
Thanks for all the help...I certainly don't want to get this wrong.

You can get a copy of the owner's manual from the Ford website. Just search for "Explorer owner's manual" and you'll find a link to the right page within the Ford website. The manual will have fluid specs and capacities.

I did not look it up for your specific vehicle, but MOST FORD trucks are using 75 w 140 synthetic in the rear axle, and still use the old 80w90 gear lube in the front. Not sure why they retained the "old" spec in the front... possibly because the front does very little driving.

Thank you to all for the help.
This is a new truck to me, and no owners manual, so I really appreciate all the help!
