The oil dipstick goes in with difficulty. It's rusty but not to the point of breaking. Hard to tell what the oil level is since the dipstick comes out with so much crud on the end.
Is it possible to clean the tube or should it be replaced (and how difficult is that)?
I've thought of putting a long wire down to loosen the rust and flushing it with oil or Sea Foam and then changing oil.
You must not be using your dipstick enough if its rusty, lol.
Not a big job if it goes right. IIRC,it bolts to the manifold in some fashion.(this is the part about going right). On my 302, the bracket broke right at the attachment point. Tube was fine. I just used a very small c-clamp on it till I fixed it correctly.
As far as cleaning inside, any cleaner and a clothes hanger. If you wanna get all fancy and do a super job, chuck it up in your drill.
