Electrical shutdown

I have a 1987 Ranger Super cab 4x4 2.9L 5spd.. I got in the truck this morning on my way to work and the truck shut down, headlights and everything. i turned the ignition switch off and restarted the truck and it did it again. So I parked the truck and got into my other one.. what the heck is happening? fusible link going out?.. I would really appreciate some trouble shooting tips for this for when I get home. luckily i have another Ford to drive but it drinks a helluva lottta gas.

Have you checked that the battery has a full charge, and when it actually running, have you checked that the alternator, is putting out a full charge? That would be the first thing I would check out. Then get back to me and we can go from there.

If you lost all power I would look at the batery/alternator connections.

that early in the am I just drove the other truckk so i could get to work on time. I had asome very bad connections at the solenoid. I appreciate the help fellas.
