Well folks, my headers are full of holes, the pipes have rusted off and the mufflers have just about quit muffling. The question I have is on my headers. The engine in this truck was swapped out before I got it. It is a 351w with a c4 automatic 2wd. Any body got a good suggestion for replacements.
If you are doing the whole thing I would recommend long-tube headers. Not only will you get a lot more topend out of the engine, your midrange will improve and you will generally get better economy due to superior exhaust-pulse scavenging of the cylinders.
As they exit under the floor of the cab you will also have a lot easier time fabbing the rest of the exhaust - it will be a straight pipe with a muffler and then whatever you want for the exit.
I would only go the 'shorty' type headers if fitting to a stock vehicle with pre-existing exhaust system was a concern.
Also, if these Hedman headers will fit into a Ford Maverick or Mustang then I see no reason why they wouldn't work in an F-truck:
