6-leaker
Recently I noticed a couple drips of oil on my driveway. Climb under the truck and oil is everywhere, from the looks of it I guessed icp sensor.
I took it to my regular shop (local dealer since very little people around here will touch the 6 litre.) to get it diagnosed and they came back telling me icp needs to be replaced as I suspected, and additionally the front main seal is leaking. After a little conversation my final price of repair is 750 bones. How does this number sound to you guys?
I was also looking into the possibility if fixing it myself. Im fairly mechanically capable, but from what i read, i need a special tool in order to install the new seal on the crank. Some were 300-400, others were right around 100 and claimed i didnt need to remove the fan/shroud etc...im having a hard time believing that.
On the icp it seems to be removing the degas bottle, ficm and grabbing the sensor with a crows foot. Hopefully someone who's done the job can chime in.
Im in a position right now where I need to be watching my pennies, but I also dont want to get in over my head and end up having the dealer finish the job after i invest time and money into tools. Thoughts?
