Been a while since I was on here. So as I look back, my priorities change from day to day it seems. Tonight I had to load and unload some stuff from the bed in the dark and it kinda got me thinking, I should get some bed lights for this thing. I looked a bit on how some guys did theirs and I think I will go with some LED strips under the bed rails. But what I would really like is two switches, one in the bed and one in the cab. Is this possible? I want to be able to turn it on or off from either spot on the truck without using the other switch. Does that make sense? So like if I have both switches, but I can only turn the lights on if the cab switch is on, that's what I DON'T want. I need them to be independent of each other. Is this possible? As you can tell I am by no means a wiring expert, but I get by.
I didn't add any lights to my bed, I did however put some bright LED's in fhe high mount and they are awesome. I would also recommend the Phillips reverse bulbs if you go to the 08+ tail lights, they are far better then some cheaper LED's I tried.
Been a while since I posted here, so I'll give a bit of an update. The truck has been running pretty good, aside from a little gremlin that causes a misfire once in a great while. It's very strange because I have absolutely no clue where it's coming from and I can't seem to replicate the misfire even if I try.
I just replaced the rear brake rotors and the passenger rear caliper as it was locked up. I also bled the brakes. How much new brake fluid should it take when bleeding the system. I used just a teeny bit more than a quart, seems like it should be more than that. Either way there's clean brake fluid at each wheel. Also, how should the brakes feel? Before they were pretty hard and also pretty responsive. Now they are squishier and it seems like they are less responsive, but it could be me too. Could this possibly be the pads just seating into the new rotors?
I'm really looking forward to school being done so I can make some money. I get done with my second year of welding this spring and then hopefully this thing will get lots of stuff done to it
Well I finally Bought something big for the truck! Scored a used box and a set of rear leaf springs at a junkyard for $480! The box does have some light rust here and there, but not bad for $350! I'll be doing a bit of prep work on the box before I have it painted green. I also plan on fixing the gaping hole in the drivers cab corner.
Ok so it's been a while, but school's out forever for me and I am now working full time, which means I have more time and money to work on my truck. Yesterday I started working on the box, I cut the two center crossmembers out and cut some 2x2 square tube to match the length. Now one of the supports was approx. 2 1/2" tall, and one was close to 1 7/8" tall. That was measured from the inside of the bend so I figured to add about an 1/8". So one section should be fine, but I'm going to need spacers for the other. Has anybody here replaced the box and if so, would I be able to just add spacers as I go?
