Finally getting back to my truck after ten years of sitting, truck has ifs and four link rear, locker and wanting to probably throw a t5 behind it, the stock 352 ram quite well but tore down and ready to build it up, haven't really been reading much on it lately so no real up on what builds are good, I'm hoping for close to 400 hp, I've seen some stroker motors and am intrigued, what are your guy's thoughts on a good game plan

How do you plan on driving it? Daily, occasionally, mild hot rodding, drag, etc. etc. I think once you decide that you'll better know how/what you want for an engine. Don't forget to add in the $$$ aspect and the old octane rating.
I tormented forever on my build for CI & HP. In hindsight, I probably should have just bought a crate motor for the time & money I invested not counting the 'issues' I ran into. But I do know what's in my motor and it's built for the way I intend to drive it. Just my 2 cents..
A Tremec (formerly Borg-Warner) T-5 was designed for a much lighter vehicle than a Bumpside and only a max of around 310 ft/lb torque rating in a Z-spec T-5 --the strongest of the various T-5s that were produced.
There are no T-5s that will directly bolt to an FE engine since the FE engine was phased out in '76 and the T-5 didn't come out until 1981 and, it didn't become the Word Class design until 1985, another major improvement to the alloy in the gears was made in '90 and then the strongest production version that was in the '93 Cobra Mustangs.
If you're going to build a stroker or something that produces a good amount of torque, a Tremec TKO 500 or 600 would be way better suited for this in a heavy vehicle. If you have a '79-'93 Fox chassis Mustang or an early '65-'70 model Mustang, a T-5 will work great in it.
Otherwise, the T-5 might be short lived in a vehicle application and with an engine it wasn't designed for.
Thanks for the replies yes I've been looking at the tko's, they seem like a sweet Trans, what other manual would you suggest? As far as driving I want the truck to be a strong but reliable truck, probably in the mild hot ridding category along with occasional highway driving, as far as money I'm probably looking at 5-6 thousand on the motor, it doesn't have to be a stroker I was just intigues about survival kits, thanks
