pull engine out the top or drop subframe ?
Ok so I Don't have much experience with front wheel drive, I'm a heavy equipment/truck mechanic, I'm pulling a motor out of an 03 Taurus to put in an 01 escape awd. Should I pull the motor out the top or unbolt the subframe and drop everything out the bottom? Other tips would be appreciated as well, thanks

I would have said it depends on what you have available to do the job. If you drop the subframe, you have to raise the vehicle high enough to drag the engine/trans out from under. If you have a cherry picker, and no method to support the Taurus up high, I'd pull it out the top, taking both engine and transaxle at once.
