Better receiver hitch?

I got rear ended today. Everybody's fine, only minor damage.
The bumper and receiver hitch will be replaced. Which brings me to my question..
Is there a better receiver hitch than the Ford OEM class-5 hitch?

2016 F-250 6.2L

Torklift makes both a 20k and 30k lb dual receiver replacement hitch, they are much heavier than the factory hitches. I have the 20k one and it is a serious piece of hardware, very heavy duty.
SuperHitch Original 20K Frame Mounted Truck Receiver Hitch rated up to 20 Thousand LB Towing Capacity | Torklift International

An upgraded hitch won't change the overall trailer ratings. The hitch might be rated for 100k (I exaggerate slightly) but your truck will still be rated for 14k (less with options taken into consideration).

I would consider the aftermarket hitch only if it A) costs less and/or B) has better features.

Yeah, I know the truck capacities won't change, I was just if there were any options to consider.
I'm a big fan of overkill, but that Torklift is way overkill!!

I tow an 11k TT with 1400+ tongue weight, so my factory hitch was being asked to handle more than it was rated for, add to that 11 years worth of rust, corrosion and use (and abuse ) it was time for some updating. The new Torlift 20K SuperHitch is crazy beefy compared to the factory hitch, and a much better match for how we use our rig.

I am curious to know what an OEM hitch costs your / their insurance co. I would think that the hitch WE3ZS linked would probably be the better value when you factor in the cost of OEM.

Insurance is requiring a "used, like new" hitch. This is totally unacceptable to me.
New OEM hitch is about $530.
The junkyard hitch they want is about $130.
A 16k B&W hitch is $185 on eTrailer. (OEM is 12.5k rated)

its on your 2016? no way Used... ask for a manager at insurance company.

for one thing.. finding a USED 2016 hitch.. almost never happen.

every company has a Boss,,, and that Boss has a Boss.. up the ladder. and take Names and dates.

Yeah, I've been talking to several 'supervisors' today.
Best I've gotten is I can pay the difference between whats authorized and any 'upgrade' I want to make.
So I'll probably buy one myself and submit the bill for reimbursement.
No way in hell they're putting a junkyard hitch on my truck.

Who's their insurance company? Not that it matters, just curious. Also, you can refuse their "deal", and tell them that you and your lawyer will see them in court. That may loosen their wallet. It's always more expensive for them if it has to go to court.

Their insurance is also my insurance, State Farm.

I have had nothing but good service from them.
In a way, I understand the process going on here, and if this part wasn't a critical safety element I wouldn't have as much of a problem.
It stems from their ignorance of how automobiles work and the forces involved in towing.

Your hitch before the accident was used like new...

They are restoring you to whole.

Usually the body shop will have to order in the used part and if they are not like new, aka rusty, worn, etc then they can use new parts.
