I have been looking for a aftermarket air filter for my 94 7.3 turbo and I have been reading that most aftermarket filters can't filter out most of the micro particles, so my question is if I drive over 30 miles daily on dirt roads would I run the risk of dusting the engine?

Some people on here have a problem with the cotton filters(K&N style). It is true that the cotton has larger holes and could allow dust through, especially if it has any holes in it.
What I've learned recently, however, is that the cotton isn't really what captures the dust, it's that the K&N style filters are oiled. The oil will trap those little particles.
So, my solution is to simply grab a K&N style filter and oil it up with a K&N recharger kit.
K&N says that you should only use "just enough" oil, preventing it from being too wet, that excess oil might cause issues with sensitive mass air flow sensors.
In our case... what mass air flow sensor?
As such, just oil it up real good; any oil that gets sucked in will simply be burned, and the extra oil should provide plenty of filtering capacity.
Alternately, there is a Napa 6637 filter which is a paper filter that has a 4" inlet, but it's kind of expensive to me.
I recently removed the Ram Air and its KnN filter and installed the 6637 Napa filter. Its pricey BUT its MUCH bigger, filters the air much better and if you buy the riffraff, I hear it will last you a long time. I heard someone was at 60kmiles still using the same filter, cleans the filter with high pressure air and dust off the Riff Raff from time to time
I havent purchased the riff raff yet, but will soon.
riffraff filter is the same as the napa or wix filter, only cheaper price.
if you use the removable and washable filter cover 40,000 miles is no problem at all. the one i took out after 40k still looked like new and i put it in my 88.
i would never ever use a k&n filter on anything. i would walk before using one of those filters on one of my engines, i have seen way to many ruined engines due to the k&n filter.
