Hi All,
Started working overhauling my braking system on my '46 pickup, which is a total mess at the moment.
A previous owner replaced all pipes with non standard pipe lengths/routing and fastenings. Even the front flexible hose chassis securing clips were missing and ty wraps used, very loosely, to secure all pipes to chassis.
I now need to make new pipes to the correct lengths and routes, I have sourced a brake layout diagram front the net but am confused with the pipe reference numbers shown.
Numbers shown on diagram - 1. 2264 o/s/f to m/c
2. 2263 n/s/f to m/c
3. 2268 o/s/b to b/axle flex
4. 2267 n/s/b to b/axle flex
5. 2265 M/c to other end of b/axle flex
No lengths are quoted on diagram.
What has confused me is that lengths for the '46 PU are shown on part suppliers web sites but 8 different lengths are shown for '46 PU as follows.
1. 72" 47-63960 2. 51" 47-63956 3. 60" 47-63958 4. 30" 47-63952
5. 20" 47-63950 6. 40" 47-63954 7. 12" 47-63948 8. 8" 47-63946
Could someone please advise on which lengths to use for which pipe.
Need to make up my own pipes as premade parts are obtainable here.
Also am I correct that all solid pipes have 7/16"-24 fittings.
Thanks
You need 5 steel pipes. Do you have a one ton or 1/2 ton? I have my 1/2 ton rear axle housing with the lines on it and the others there on the ground. I could measure them if you would like.
Hi Tacomacream,
Thanks for the offer.
My PU is a 1946 1/2 ton with flathead V8.
If you could measure your pipes that would be great.
I would also be interested if all of the pipe fittings are the same thread length or mixture of short and long.
I've always just made my own from lengths I get at the parts store. It does require the occasional splice for a really long one and almost always the use of the double flaring tool because their standard length will be one inch too short or a foot too long.

Thanks for the info and pictures it really is appreciated.
Am I correct in the assumption that the 411/2" & 211/2" pipes are rear axle, 431/2" & 69" front and 71" master to back axle.
