Help With Power Cord(stuck inside housing)

Evidently someone pushed in our Main Power cord inside the housing. I can't reach my hand in there, the cover is riveted so I can't just take it off, and I can get a piece of the cord with a hanger but no way to find the end.

Anyone solve this dilemma?

PS - we're supposed to head out today so would like to get the freezer going as soon as possible....

use hanger and pull cord out... and continue..

or look inside trailer where cord is.. a panel maybe removable.. done.

or drill out rivets... fix and install screws..

hanger didn't work. it just bends the hook...

The drill out and use screws is probably the quickest. It's only 6:15 so I'll wait a tad before drilling. Not that it would wake anybody up, I just have a hard time making noise in the neighborhood early. The dang city thinks 7 AM is a good time to demolish a school!

And thanks! I guess I needed permission to drill as THAT idea had not crossed my mind...

We just bought a new-to-us 2004 Terry cream-puff. We needed to go up to Santa Ynez to look at it, and found that only about six feet of cable would feed out of the cable locker. I knew the cable should be at least 25 feet, and that sure wasn't a deal-breaker, as I knew there had to be a way of resolving the snag.

After we bought it and got it back here to the SFV, I took a closer look into how to fix it. It was as easy as removing the drawer above the locker and feeding the cable out. Sure-enough, 25 feet.

However, it then occurred to me that I could fix it so that it never would happen again. I installed one of these, and in so doing, gained another two feet of cable:

I have now gained space to install a Progressive Industries electrical management system, too.

X2. Did that in our 2012 Cougar & gained another drawer space in the pantry cabinet. Built the drawer box myself & found a drawer front in the bargain bin at the local lumber yard that was close to the others in the camper.

Just came across this thread while browsing.

I ALMOST did this on Sunday while stowing the cord to wash our TT. I even joked to my 6 yo daughter that daddy almost lost the cord since she was "helping" me pull it in and I pushed the plug too far back in the cover. I looked into the storage area later that night with a flashlight and it appears it's a box behind the range in the kitchen cabinets...don't know how I would retrieve it if that happened to me. Glad you were able to retrieve yours though!

So now you store your cable.... where? What you gained there, you lost where you stored it.

Here's a funny for ya.... I thought Ford dropped the Mercury Cougar back in the 90's????

on my coachman.. the cable storage area is behind the Commode . and below the towel/washcloth storage cabinets. so no use for added storage to me.

unless commode was on a hinge plate

Have a Good day

Our 2004 Komfort has a exterior panel/door which opens to access the power cord. Our bathroom sink is above the cord storage area inside our camper. We can remove the drawers from the sink and reach in from inside if necessary.
We've replaced the entire door assembly when it was damaged by a cow/bear or tresspasser. Might be worth checking for a door that fits.
