ConstantProject;14761460]New member from Houston TX, just bought my first diesel a 94 f350 with a 7.3 idi turbocharged from factory. Body is straight and den't free just had been sitting for 2+ years runs and drives good, but I'm buying parts to refresh the whole thing and make it safe for my family and work (it's main purpose is to move a tractor around on a goose neck trailer. Here is the truck when I bought it, I'll get more pictures after I do some work to it.
Ok so far I have replaced the rotors, calipers, drums, shoes, hydraulic cylinders, etc brake related stuff, an oil change and she runs good. Not too long after doing all that I lost all brakes, the pedal was hard as hell and figure it probably was vacuum pump, a leak in the vacuum system, or brake master cylinder, brake booster, all of the above were old and rusty and I figured might as well replace it, so I. Got all the new parts and what would you know a leak from a rusted hard line above the rwar differential showed up. So my question is should I buy a whole kit already bent from eBay, or another store? Or just buy the material and bend/make myself? I have my fair share of know how, but this would be the first time I have made brake lines. Does not seem that complicated, but I just want input for this one before I commit, since I did not ask questions last time I ended up buying a brand new brake booster and master cylinder, had I known I could have gone with the hydraboost from a super duty.... SMH oh well I might as well use this parts since they have been sitting for a while and I cannot longer return them. So let me know what you guys would do.
Hi. I buy the materials and bend lines myself, copper nickel is best. Care with the flares, and bends and you will get great results and good value. Usually can re use the fittings on the new pipe, cut the tube, deburr, and slip them off.
Alright, thanks man! More or less that's what I was hoping to hear since the new already made kit would be close to $200. I will update this thread accordingly.
