Hey. I will reply! I did this repair almost 3 years ago now and since then put another 50-60k on the truck with no issues. I went directly to Ford for the flexplate. I couldn’t find anything wrong with mine (even magnafluxed it) but a few teeth were chipped and it wasn’t that much. For the torque convertor, I sourced a heavy duty triple clutch Toro with a normal stall speed from a rebuilder I know. I did not go crazy with one of the big name companies. Immediately the noise was gone and has not returned. Fluid has stayed nice and clean and truck pulls and shifts like always. We regularly tow 7-8000lbs and it runs a V plow and spreader in the winter. She’s a little rusty but a great work truck. Any questions let me know.
Nice! You give me hope! This truck has been in Central Arizona, things don't rust out here. Just get sun baked... I took the inspection plate off and the flexplate is definitely warped. It's wobbling all over the place. Thanks for your post! I'm hoping I can mirror your experience and have a great work truck for the next 3 years. Cheers.
Hey guys. I got around to dropping the transmission this weekend and got the new Flywheel and and Torque Converter installed. Problem went away immediately! Thanks for posting in this forum. You guys saved me a hefty repair bill! Truck runs amazing now!
