My 99' 7.3 had them and still has them. They are stuck on there pretty good.
My '01 7.3 had them. My '10 7.3 has them (new box on the '01) and they were screwed on hard rubber. These are a stop for the tailgate which would keep the latch from holding movement in both directions. If these are indeed a shipping item is there another "bumper" which holds the tailgate?
LMC Truck lists them up to 2015 as permanent. There are comments in the F150 forums about them causing tailgate jams.
Seems like if they installed them they should be there.
Like that blue film they install on the control panel of your new washing machine? LOL. But seriously, even if they are meant to be permanent, I can't see how they will ever stay in place. Anyone who uses their bed is going to knock them out in two seconds...

Agreed. These are temporary or just plain sheist old ones were permanent.
One of mine fell off and only 2 days old . I put it back in but it's not going to stay . I guess I'll screw them in somehow. I'd like to use pop rivets but that won't work. What is those of you that are putting them back using
Picked up my truck yesterday and when the salesman was showing me around the truck, opened the tail gate and one fell off, comment, "well I guess we should fix that"
im sure our trucks take more of a beating on the road then when it was shipped! if there needed for shipping then there needed for off-road and hauling as well! i think they just cheeped out on us here
