239 flathead.

239 flathead.
Where would someone(me) find a decent 239 flathead(1953) in the southeast part of the U.S.? My 53 f100 originally had a flattie and it was switched out for a 54 model 239. I want to go back to the original motor. I just like the way the flathead looks too!!

That's way overpriced, The trans is worth nothing, and he hasn't done anything to verify it isn't rusted solid or cracked. The most I'd pay for it is $150, and only because there's bound to be enough good parts.
Patience will be rewarded, sooner or later someone close to you will want to yank a good-running flatmotor and you can see/hear it run. If you want to build one, I have all the parts but obviously I'm not in the SE either, there is nothing light about a flathead engine!
There's nothing wrong with a Y-block, I sure wouldn't shuck it if it's a good running engine.

I have seen this flatty in the local CL for a while now, looks like a car bellhousing, so you would need the truck bell to make it work.

Does the existing Y-block use the flathead BH with an adapter, or is it a Y-block BH? That is the hardest part of the swap, getting a one-year-only BH and the front motor mount (also one-year-only).
