Hi Gang
First time poster as we just found this place. We are restoring a 1961 unibody F100, body off. The frame is about ready to receive the body, but the mounting hardware was so gone, we have no idea about the assembly procedure, meaning the placement/order of washers, spacers, rubber cushions, and the unibody mounts ect.
We figured all you experts will have some answers.
Thanks,
Doug and Sandy
Ps - this is mostly Sandy. Doug is the garage guy. I'm the computer gal.
I believe it usually goes washer- rubber - washer, chassis mount - rubber, washer on all applications with older trucks, the rad support mounts are usually bagged separately. Check LMC site, they may have schematics and usually show details.
Thanks ND,
for jumping in, that's a good representation as any. The only difference I see is the front clip mounts that originally have small coil springs under the rad support for height adjustment.
When I got a new rad support kit from LMC, these springs were not there. I honestly don't think it matters as when I changed them out I used only solid rubber and added washers as shims to get the right height for the fender gaps.
Those coil springs were there for a reason. They are necessary because of the body twist/bind over bumps and such. They were used on the unis, 4x4's, F600 and larger trucks to allow for frame twist. I would rethink your deleting them.
Good luck
