Oh gosh, how did you manage insurance for an old rig?
My '74 250 4x4 has become my pet, if it were stolen it would be
like losing your favorite dog!
"Hagerty" They have agreed value. I have it insured for what I think its worth not what they think its worth. To me its more of a hobby. I have had a few of these and always able to make a few buck when I sell. Look in my gallery. I love everyone of them and only regret sell a few but not married to any of them. When Someone wants to give crazy money then its sold. My insurance is only about $250 a year for full coverage.
Hook a switch directly to the ignition on position and run a plastic covered #20 wire about 6feet long coiled up and put it in your ashtray, if you don’t use your ashtray, ground the other end. Flip the switch on when you park the truck and for gods sake remember to turn it off when you get back in to start it. That little wire will put out about 500 cubic feet of smoke and completely fill the cab. That will deter anyone. I will take a few days to get the stink out of the truck but at least you will still have it. (Don’t use a larger wire and keep it in the ashtray or you might burn the truck up).
I would be more scared of them stealing what I have in the truck than the truck itself. I usually travel with at least $500 of tools and spare parts at any given time.
If I'm in the powerstroke, the bed tool box has every tool I own. If they get into that and clean it out, I would be in deep doodoo.

Been there. Had a tool bag stolen. Thought oh $500 deductable, I will only be over a hundred or so. Nope, closer to $1500 when I was done replacing everything.
Unless there is something I don't want just walking off, I do not lock my vehicles. The damage done to get in can be worse than what is taken.
But at this point, I have no vehicle anyone wants.
Although, back in high school, someone stole my buddy's moms Dodge Omni. They weren't even cool back then.
My 70 Olds Cutlass had switches on the dash marked Fuel Pump and 12Volt. Both were wired backwards to where off was on and on was off. Only the ON position was marked on the dash. The fuel pump switch worked the starter and the 12 Volt worked the fuel pump. 7 times people tried to steal it. All 7 times the switches were left in the on positions after attempted thefts. Dipsticks couldn't figure it out. Worse I came out was a new ignition switch and rewiring the ignition 3 times because they couldn't figure out how to hot wire, bypass the starter selonoid or get fuel to the motor.....but that vehicle was worth way more than my truck.
I don't have an electric fuel pump in my truck and for the most part it doesn't look valuable. Very very easy to steal at the moment but I will eventually toss a battery disconnect in my engine bay beside my radiator under my relays for the electric fan. It'll be super hard to see cause the relays will easily block it from view and the wiring wont trace it back to where it is.....of course I'll find a inside the cab hood latch and figure out how to install that. That'll be about it. After all my work I've done to mine, it's still just a truck, not even a valuable one so if it gets stolen it'll give me an excuse to build another one.....
Jarrett, Hey, you got a point there! Tools stolen can be CRIPPLING, though I would NOT be at all happy if my Highboy were swiped. And... would insurance bring me back my stolen items or the truck? What a hassle.
My drive-around truck is an older Tacoma, with canopy, and everything inside including tools, xtra jackets, etc. is a total MESS. Thief would have heckuva time sorting through it all! But in the city one night a thief got in the unlocked canopy and stole a sack of clothes, left everything else. Homeless guy, perhaps. In the mountains leaving your vehicle at a trailhead while you are gone maybe multiple days... very risky. My little car was entered (how? it was locked, nothing broken...) and all my 70 or so maps were swiped, along with jug of iced tea and my apple! Power tools were left alone. Good grief. A "fellow hiker" did that.
I keep my go to tools in the highboy. Hell, my highboy is one of my go-to tools. If they got stolen, it would not only be DITW, but I would be more than happy to teach the thief a lesson were I to get the chance.
