56 F100 Master cylinder ?

Hi Guys, I notice at some pics on line that guys relocate them on the fire wall?
What the reasons or that? I'm thinking its for better brake pedal height . My F100 is in the stock height with a under floor mounted. Which i found that stock height is way to high and very unconformable for me to drive. If so can someone tell me a good power dual master cylinder . were to buy it. thanks kenny

I am in the middle of upgrading my system, but will leave it mounted below the floor, and will keep them manual.

With that being said I believe anybody who moves them do it for a couple basic reasons: upgrading the entire mounting/pedal assy to something more modern, and secondly because it makes it easy to work on.

On doing this you will have to reinforce the fire wall a bit. My old truck was that way and was reinforced but with that being said it takes up a lot of room under the hood.On the truck I have now I am going to leave it on the floor. Basically it is what you are comfortable with for driving and looks.

My '56 already had a manual brake set up on the firewall....single reservoir and hanging pedals from only God knows where. I ordered a power steering set up which was specific to my year truck from Performance Online. Found out that their set up puts the brake pedal on the left side of the steering column. Classic Performance Products is sending me a pedal bracket that is designed to put the brake pedal on the right side of the column. I am hoping I can use the booster and master from Performance Online and make it all work together.
