Just talked to my dealer to find out if there was any movement on my truck getting scheduled. Lariat Ultimate with almost every option.
He was planning on calling me Monday, as he has been told that if I add the Rear Heated Seat option, that the order would be pulled this month, but if I choose to not add it, Ford won't be pulling it until sometime next month...
Kinda an odd option to screw up the ability to schedule, but hey.. I've seen weirder things cause supply chain issues at work.
So what's an extra 300 bucks on a 60+K order.. told him to go ahead and add it so I get scheduled. I'll make sure my backseat passengers (the dogs) thank me.
I have a loaded Platinum Ultimate on order with heated rear seats, ordered 8/16 still waiting for a build date, hopefully next month. I do have an eta of 11/26. seems strange that it takes so long to build a truck in a plant that is fully automated, but I can order and get a hand built RV in 8 weeks
I have a feeling that the Ford Marketing department really did a poor job of forecasting option mix. I'll admit it's a tough job, and especially when they've added a ton of new tech onto a model line that until now has been so long-in-the-tooth.
But they should have hedged their bets better and had a larger buffer of parts for all options that could then have been slowly dwindled once things got stabilized.

That sounds like a dealer trying to make an extra few bucks. They make add'l $ on every added option. I don't have my page handy but my salesgirl sent me a sheet showing price vs invoice on my truck (which has the heated rear seats) and the dealer probably makes $80 on that one option alone.
[QUOTE=wb6anp;16597232 I can order and get a hand built RV in 8 weeks[/QUOTE]
My order was placed 8/23, picked up the next week so actually Ford took it on 8/30 and dealer ETA is Oct 31, right on track with what they said at 8 -10weeks. Build week of 10/10. I feel pretty good with that if it holds. Unfortunately some earlier orders have taken forever but with production not starting until mid-July I think Ford had its hands full with the initial hiccups of model change.
Jace - could be, but this is my 4th purchase from them. They've been a good honest dealer in the past, and I'm dealing directly with the owner. I don't think he's stupid enough to risk a 60+k order over 80 bucks more profit.

Interesting I order a Lariat on 8/6 and Ford gave me a Vin# and ETA of 10/24

I hear ya. Sounds like you got a great relationship with your dealer. No telling what holds these orders up but something does for sure and it doesn't make much sense why one truck is built in 8 weeks from order date and some take 6 months. My order is platinum 6.7 so if anything I would think it would take longer because of possible parts issues with different options but who knows.
