Question Inspecting 6.9 and knowing whats right and whats wrong...

Tomorrow After I solder on new connectors for the chassis harness, There has been alot of "shade tree" work done on this truck before me. Where can I find pictures or references to follow so I'll know what is factory and right, opposed to what is "shady" and wrong. Somethings on this '87 look right but can tell there not and vice-versa, wrong is actually how it was built. Currently, getting under it is a tight fit and i'm only 170 lbs. but I can do it.
And I'm talking about things like using white zip ties to hold lines to whatever is close by or where are the steel tubing hold down clips on the chassis? How close is the 7.3 oil filter on a 6.9 supposed to be the front cross-member and is one of the two lines supposed to be pushed out and rubbing it? No, but it is. I need someone with experience to look at this engine bay and directly under it. Thats where most of the problems are.

Top of the engine I've already started cleaning up so it is a mess right now. When it stops raining, I'll get under it best I can and get pictures. I'll warn ya, She is VERY greasy under her.

And thats exactly why I haven't cleaned it! But it does make doing any overhead work or inspecting unbearable....Like replacing a starter because the solenoid cap spun when tightening the correct cable on instead of the wrong and junk ones I have been using.
I did try to get some pictures but you really can't see much. It all kind of blurred together.
