Hey where can i find glow plug wires? Ive been looking for motorcraft glow plug wires but i cant seem to find any on Autozone or O'Reilly. So where can i find some motorcraft wires and or glow plug wires that are just as reliable? Also what should i go with for a glow plug controller?
8 6 inch lengths of 10 gauge wire, 8 bullet connectors, 8 inline butt connectors, and 8 pieces of heat shrink tubing cut in half.
that will give you the same thing as that $60 kit.
You can use the 6.0l harness and just crimp ring terminals on in place of the connectors. Turbos will have to extend one bank 6 inches. The connector at the glow plug is so much better. I wasnt a fan of the replacement crimp connectors. They loosened up frequently.
That`s like two for the price of one.
I have 8 new ZD1 Motor Craft plugs to stick in. It`s so dang rusty around the threads Iam nervous about breaking one off.
Thinking of soaking them with kroil when the engine is hot after a good run when I get home ea day. Do that for about a week.
Then the Harness is iffy? Iam sure after 30 years. I know one GP spade is rusted off.
So maybe just go ahead and buy this 6.0 harness, then maybe cobble together some short wires with a Bullet end and Spade end.
Or bite the bullet and get the 7.3 relay ZD9`s and up grade.
The 6.0l harness already comes with the correct bullet connectors for the 7. 3l zd9 glow plugs. You just have to cut off the 4 wire connector side and add a couple ring terminals crimped on to attach to the glow plug controller stud. The 6.0 harness will not work with space glow plugs.
I soaked mine every day I drove it for a week. Didn't break any and 4 were autolites.
Why not just make your own harness? Use like 10ga wire, and run each directly to where you need it.
If you already need to replace the ends, it's probably cheaper anyway. You can still use some of that flex-wrap stuff to keep it 'pretty'(unlike what I did).
