I'm about to replace the Carb on my truck with a Edelbrock 600 but need to know if what I have is a Square Bore Carb. The truck is an all original 79 F250 2WD Regular Cab XLT Ranger. It has AT, Factory A/C, 460 4BBL. It is almost completely original but I know that the Carb was replaced at some point with a reman Motorcraft. The Part stamped on the Carb is D9TE-9510-AEA.
So two questions:
1) Is the current carb a Square Bore? I'd perfer not to uninstall until I've got the replacement in hand.
2) Any suggestions for the Carb replacement?
Look at the throttle plates. Square bore will have four plates the same size. Spread bore will have smaller primary plates and larger secondary plates.
Here is what is under my Edelbrock 1405. I have a 78 f250 with a 460 and stock intake. That'd be a spread bore. The primaries line up just fine but the secondaries are much smaller than the spreadbore secondaries.
It is a square bore. Or at least the one I have in garage is. I can't remember exactly off the top of my head, but that is either a 600 or 650 cfm carb.
I would be interested in buying it off you when you get the new one.
